A Rocky Ride with the Alec Bradley Magic Toast
Rating: 3.5/5
I’d heard a lot of buzz about the Magic Toast, so when I finally got my hands on one, I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. The name alone pulls you in—whimsical, intriguing, a little mysterious. And the pre-light aroma? Sweet wood and dark fruit. It smelled like dessert in a humidor.
Lighting up, I was greeted with a burst of sweetness and charred oak, almost like bourbon-glazed wood chips. There were hints of cocoa, a little raisin, and some spice in the background. The flavors definitely danced around in an interesting way—it kept me guessing, which I liked. But the burn... that was a different story.
I had to touch it up more than once. The wrapper seemed a bit finicky, and there were moments where it just refused to stay even. Not the worst burn issues I’ve seen, but enough to take me out of the moment a couple times. The draw was decent, though—just enough resistance to keep it engaging.
All in all, the flavor was there, but the inconsistency knocks it down a bit. I’d give it another shot, maybe from a different box. 3.5/5 for now—fun and flavorful, but it has to behave better next time.
